If you live in Mooresville and you’ve spotted a stain on the ceiling, a lifted shingle after a windy night, or a wet spot that shows up every time it rains, you’re probably wondering the same thing most homeowners ask us: Can this be repaired, or is it time for a new roof?

We’re Campbells Precision Roofing, a GAF Master Elite® contractor based in Denver, NC. We’ve been serving Denver and the Lake Norman area — including Mooresville and the Iredell side of the lake — since 2015. Here’s a plain look at asphalt roof repair in Mooresville: what we check on a free inspection, the fixes we handle most often, and when a full tear-off replacement is the smarter call.

What we check on a free Mooresville roof inspection

A CPR repair starts with a free look at the roof you have now. We walk the shingles, flashing, vents, valleys, and gutters, feel for soft spots in the deck, and take photos of what we find. Then we give you a straight repair-or-replace answer in plain English.

That inspection matters in Mooresville because Lake Norman weather swings hard — spring and summer storms with wind and hail, then long stretches of heat that cook asphalt shingles. A small problem on the roof can stay quiet until the next hard rain. Photos and notes from the visit make the decision clear, whether the fix is a targeted repair or a new system. More on how we make that call on our roof repair and replacement page.

Common asphalt repairs we handle

Not every storm or leak needs a new roof. On Mooresville asphalt roofs, we inspect for the same issues we note on our Mooresville roofing page: lifted tabs, failed flashing, soft decking, and isolated leaks. When a repair is the right call, the work usually falls into a few buckets:

  • Lifted or missing shingle tabs after wind, where a sealed tab has broken free and left the nail line or underlayment exposed.
  • Failed flashing where the roof meets a wall, chimney, or skylight curb — metal that has pulled away, rusted through, or been sealed with tar that dried out.
  • Pipe boots and vent collars that have cracked or pulled, a common leak path around plumbing stacks and exhaust vents.
  • Soft or soft-feeling decking under a small section of shingles, often from a long-running leak that needs the wet boards replaced before new covering goes on.
  • Isolated leak paths that have a clear start and stop, instead of water showing up in several rooms or along a whole valley.

If the roof is otherwise sound — decent remaining life, solid deck away from the problem area, and no widespread granule loss or curling — a tight repair can stop the water and buy you time. If you’re weighing a patch against a bigger decision, our post on whether a roof leak can be fixed without a full replacement walks through that same question.

When repair is enough vs when replacement makes more sense

We recommend a repair when the damage is limited and the rest of the roof still has life. A single lifted tab, one failed pipe boot, or flashing that pulled away from a wall on an otherwise healthy roof are good repair candidates.

Replacement usually makes more sense when we find:

  • Widespread wear, curling, or heavy granule loss across large field areas
  • More than one active leak path, or water damage that keeps moving after a “fix”
  • Soft decking in several spots, not just under one penetration
  • Storm damage on a roof that is already near the end of its useful life

In those cases, another patch often turns into the next call a season later. A full tear-off lets us see the deck, fix what needs fixing underneath, and put on a complete system. After storms around the lake, the same repair-or-replace logic applies — see how we talk through it after storms in Huntersville, and use our when to replace your roof guide if you’re still deciding.

What a CPR asphalt repair looks like

Once you approve the scope, we match the work to what we photographed. That usually means:

  • Photos and a clear scope so you see the problem area and the fix before we start.
  • Materials that match the existing roof where we can — shingle type and color blended into the field so the repair doesn’t stick out from the street.
  • Flashing and boots replaced, not just tarred over, when metal or rubber has failed.
  • Cleanup as part of the job, including magnets over the driveway and yard for nails when we’ve been on the roof.

Repairs are targeted. We don’t use a repair visit as a way to talk you into a full roof you don’t need — and we also won’t sell you a patch when the deck or the field is telling us the roof is done. We handle asphalt roof repairs in Mooresville regularly alongside full replacements.

If replacement is the call

When replacement is the better long-term answer, CPR replacements are full tear-offs. We never lay new shingles over old ones. We install GAF architectural shingles and standing seam metal roofs. For asphalt in Mooresville, that usually means GAF Timberline HDZ® or Timberline UHDZ® as a complete GAF system: underlayment over the deck, leak barrier in the wet spots, starter strips, and matching hip and ridge caps.

As a GAF Master Elite® and GAF President’s Club contractor, we can offer GAF’s enhanced warranties, including the Silver Pledge™ and Golden Pledge® Limited Warranties, on qualifying GAF roofing systems. Terms and restrictions apply; see gaf.com/warranties. Compare the lines on our Timberline HDZ® and UHDZ® page. If you’d rather look at metal, we install standing seam as well — more on metal roofing.

Gutters can ride along with a repair or a new roof when they need attention: we install seamless aluminum gutters, and RainDrop® gutter guards are available as an option. See gutters.

Questions Mooresville homeowners ask

Do you repair asphalt roofs in Mooresville?

Yes. We’re based in Denver and regularly work Mooresville and the Iredell side of Lake Norman. Roof repair, full GAF shingle replacement, and gutters are all part of what we do here. Start on our Mooresville roofing page or call for a free inspection.

Will you overlay new shingles over my old ones?

No. When we replace a roof, it’s a full tear-off down to the deck. That’s the only way to check the decking and get the new roof right. Overlays aren’t how we work.

How do I know if a repair will hold?

We show you photos of the problem area and the condition of the rest of the roof. If the damage is isolated and the field still has life, we scope a repair. If wear or leaks are widespread, we’ll say replacement is the better call — before you spend money on a patch that won’t last.

How do I book a free inspection?
